Beloved Readers, perhaps you recently shared my experience of a blogger’s block. Almoust every writer now and then goes through an writer’s block, unable to end a thought or a chapter. There are approved remedies against this. E.g. stop drinking, throwing your lover out, etc. But bloggers block is somewhat more delicate to handle. It’s an update quest. Therefore I decided to act imediately. KK suggested, it would be the best to attend Rosemunde Pilcher’s famous workshop in Cornwall. The old lassie throws novels on the market like Bloggers throw out taglines- she only could help.
In the pic above you can see our first efforts. To be honest, Mrs Pilcher was not amused. „Darling, you write in almost sunshine and quite happy. You are in holiday mood. That’s the right way to bore the audience- and yourself.
The only way to creative writing is a) uncomfortable weather and b) intolerable circumstances in life.
a) you can only create something of utopian interest if you are not hanging around a beach in Bikini. It has to rain, preferably 6 days minimum, the wind howling in your ears, you trapped in the house, tied to the desk. That’s the foundation of writing. You cannot go out. You are in Cornwall, hard weather. There is no one to meet. But you.
2. To create a better world you definitely have to hate the real one. Just imagine all the fat English Girls getting drunk in the Pub. You can say oh they are nice in a way. Or you can think I just can stand their lack of ambition . Isn’t it easy then to create an Elizabeth Bennet or a Becky Sharp ?
Or remember all that cowards in your life, talking of love but always meaning „adopt me, I cannot stand the pressure, please care for me until end of times…
Isn’t it a real comfort , that an English writer invented Robinson Crusoe, a man, who could entirely look after himself? And develops happiness and self-consciousness? And, after 12 Years, he is able to go into a relationship, with Fryday, the day of the FREE…
My Anglomania is notorious , I love this country INCREDIBLE because of the parallel universe they managed to build. Of course, the Russians are second, Natasha Rostowa and Fürst Myschkin touched our feelings likewise.
But they are old. The English are always updated. 20 years ago they donated Harry Potter to the world, thrill & joy to everyone coming on age and beyond. And our 90 year old Rosamunde sells every 2-Page Story to ZDF & plants hope in any heart. I am freezing to death, the Cornish storms are @ the moment 49 miles per second. According to BBC. Heavy weather. Curing blogger’s block…
